Not typically a fan of sci-fi, I was skeptical when picking this book up. I have read All In The Name Of Love by Margaret Taylor and adored it, so this had to at least be decent, right? From the first chapter I was captivated and thrown into a much larger world than the one I once knew. Janel Canton had a very rough past, but from it has grown into a strong and independent woman who doesn't play any games. She is the Star Captain of her own ship, the White Fang, and fights every day to keep her job- and herself- safe. Sherriff Jake Reeves once picked on Janel in high school to stay in the comfortable position of popularity heaven. Little did he know that frumpy, acne covered, shy girl would show up mysteriously years later for their high school reunion looking like a whole new person. Now she is mouth wateringly gorgeous and isn't afraid to put a man in his place. The tension between them is thick, not only from only grudges but new attractions as fate puts a major tailspin on their lives. Janel needs him to get out of a marriage to an alien; he needs her with a pounding force he cannot explain.

I could spend hours going on and on about this book. It was short; read fast with a smooth story line and well written descriptive scenes. The characters were wonderful, witty, and charming, but had an edge to them that you can relate to. Who hasn't been bullied at some point in high school? And who hasn't lusted after someone who seems to have no interest back? This book was action packed, filled with twists, and carefully crafted to draw out your emotions. The romance was so sweet, and yet hot at the same time, I think my heart melted, haha.

Paying $2.99 on 150 pages would normally turn my stomach, but this woman is a truly amazing author and I would gladly do it again any day of the week!

The editing on this was so bad. Third Grade mistakes. I didn't think the hero and heroine had any chemistry. But the science fiction parts were good. Will I buy the next one? Not a chance because reviews said the same elementary school grammar mistakes are in that one.
Alright hold on to your seats and strap in ladies and gents. You are going to be going on an amazingly mind blownimg trip through the galaxy! I was sucked into this book with such a a great plot! Very vivid that you can almost see and hear what is happening you can feel the emotions of the characters. A new must read!
This book is a good example of a story idea with potential that is ruined by poor grammar, poor spelling and a lack of good proofreading. Rather than a series, this could have easily been shortened and possibly all the future books combined into one to make a really good book. The story drags in the middle, going on and on about how poorly Janel was treated in high school.

I started marking errors after it became apparently that there were several. For example the word "taunt" was used when it should have been "taut" (Location 186). Words were missing where it said "piece her" it should have read "piece OF her"(Location 854). The word "so" is written where it obviously should have been "do". (Location 1072) Once again the word "taunt" is incorrectly used at location 1172. "Do, do what it was she was planning to do, that's what!" This sentence is a sampling of a section in the book where she repeats words within the sentence. I'm not sure if the character is supposed to be stuttering or what. One time wouldn't be so bad, but this is done several times within a few pages and just gets plain annoying. (Location 1541).

Miss Taylor has a great imagination, but would do well to take a basic English grammar and punctuation course and hire a good proofreader rather than relying on spellchecker. I doubt I will bother reading the rest of this series.

Ms. Taylor tells an exciting tale of two people who have a history but it's their future that is at stake. Janel was a high school nerd and faced a great deal of torment at the hands of the popular crowd. I could identify with Janel's high school life. I wasn't picked on like she was but there were clearly different cliques in my high school. Ms. Taylor's description of the local hang out with the different levels of acceptance was hearbreakingly true. Janel returns to town for her twenty year high school reuion but with an agenda. He seeks out her first love Jake.

Jake was one of the popular crowd and one of Janel's tormentors. Yet he felt bad about it. When Janel comes back, he is enticed by this new person. He doesn't recognize her after all the years. The action between Janel and Jake was sizzling and also heartbreaking. Janel has a history that leaves her strong yet vulnerable. She never wants to be second place in anyone's heart. I feel the same way.

Moren is a secondary character but one that I want to know more about. He is a perfect second in command to Janel but his history and backstory deserve their own story. I can't wait to hear more about him.

A First Love Never Dies is a gripping tale of two people who fight their past as they bridge a new future. Janel and Jake will touch your heart and Ms. Taylor's world building will leave you sailing among the stars. I felt like I was there within the story. I highly recommend A First Love Never Dies for everyone who enjoys a story full of conflict, passion and a unique world. I am anxiously awaiting the next story in this series!
This is my first book by Margaret Taylor and I must say, she is an awesome writer. As a lover of sci-fi and paranormal romance, any author who captures me from start to finish is worth delving into for more exciting reads. Thank you.
usually a fan of paranormal this was my first space book and I was very pleasantly surprised! I read this in one day! It was a couldn't put it down book and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next! And I can't wait to read the next book in the series! Lots of action and adventure . The nerdy picked on girl who is now the captain of her own space ship unknown to those on Earth. Make you wonder what is really out there... I hope half of what they saw on other planets is a possibility... So cool!
